Gary Morris
With sixteen Top 10 singles and five number one hits to his credit, Gary Morris will bring his many talents to Paris on Saturday, December 12, as a benefit for the Paris Junior College 2015 Annual Fund. The concert is set for 7 p.m. in the North Lamar High School Theater. “PJC is so fortunate that Gary Morris is a familiar face to many, having performed here before,” said Derald Bulls, director of institutional advancement and alumni affairs at PJC. “He has many fans in this region and brings a versatile career here for ‘An Evening with Gary Morris.’” Morris is at home on the stage of the Grand Old Opry, on Broadway or in the back of a pick-up truck. Every U.S. President since Jimmy Carter has requested a performance. After a self-imposed hiatus from music, Morris began a new tour, “One Voice, One Night, One Guitar,” which includes his stop in Paris. What sets Morris apart from many entertainers is the reach of his music. While he won the Country Music Association (CMA) and Academic of Country Music (ACM) for his 1984 recording of “Wind Beneath My Wings” as Song of the Year, he also won a Grammy Award for his opera performance in “Les Miserables.” Thanks to many individuals and businesses who have underwritten his performance, the show will provide a great finish to PJC’s Annual Fund campaign, this year co-chaired by Ruth Ann and Gene Stallings. PJC extends thanks to the concert underwriters: Ballard Insurance Company, Century 21 - Executive Realty, Coston & Son Ready Mix, Crawford’s Hole in the Wall, Richard Drake Construction, First Federal Community Bank, Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home/United Funeral Directors Inc. Preneeds, Guaranty Bank & Trust, Robert & Kayla Hall, Century 21 - Harvey Properties, Inc., Kwik Kopy Printing, Paul & Judy Landers, Ronnie & Raylene Nutt, Orr Honda, Remington Angus Ranch (Fannin County-Jerry & Carolyn Lane; Lamar County-Clint & Kristy Lane), Paul Wells, CPA, Whitten Trailers, Inc., and Don & Barbara Wilson. Tickets, priced at $25, are on sale at Tony’s Tuxes, 3707 Lamar Ave. in the Chisum Square Shopping Center, the Office of the President in PJC’s Administration Building or the Institutional Advancement Office in the PJC Rheudasil Learning Resource Center.
