Auditions of “9 to 5: The Musical” Monday & Tuesday at PJC

Published or Revised October 02, 2015

Auditions will be held by the Paris Junior College Departments of Drama and Music for the fall production "9 to 5: The Musical," at 6:00 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5 and Tuesday, Oct. 6, in the Shaw Recital Hall. The auditions, held in the Shaw Recital Hall, are open to students, alumni, and community members. "We are looking for three very strong singers for the main women's characters," said PJC Drama Instructor and play director William Walker, "someone who can look like and sing like Dolly Parton for the role of Dora Lee, a female actor/singer to play the mousey Judy, and another to play the hard nosed single mom Violet. We'll also be looking for a strong male actor/singer to play the role of Mr. Hart, the chauvinistic boss." The musical sports a large chorus show with all of the individual characters pulled from that chorus, so there are plenty of fun parts that sing and dance. "Everyone will be taught something from the show to sing at the auditions," said Walker. "There is a dance element in the show so please come prepared to move. You will be taught the dance routine at auditions. Please wear comfortable clothing that you can move in. If you wish to change into something after the music auditions, you will be allowed time to do so." For any questions please call 903-782-0488 or email pjcdrama@parisjc.edu.
