Published or Revised May 01, 2015

Both the Art and Music Department of Paris Junior College are holding end-of-semester events on Tuesday, May 5, to showcase talented students and their mastery of their subjects. The Third Annual Juried Student Art Exhibit opens with an awards ceremony and reception from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. in the Foyer Gallery. Included will be several levels of expertise in ceramics, painting, drawing, 3-D and 2-D design, and photography. "We've expanded the categories this year," said PJC Art Instructor Susan Moore, "and we have a lot of talent on display." That evening, the Spring Music Concert will be held in the Ray Karrer Theater at 7:30 p.m. "Music students from the PJC Chorale, music theatre classes, and the newly formed gospel choir ensemble will present songs of American music by George and Ira Gershwin, contemporary gospel songs, and selections from American musical theatre," said PJC Director of Choirs and Music Instructor Philip Briggs. "The event is free and we hope the community will turn out and enjoy some fine music." For more information, call 903-782-0438 for the art reception, or 903-782-0343 for the concert.
