Candidates for Paris Junior College’s 90th Homecoming King & Queen were nominated by PJC student clubs and narrowed down by student vote to the following, in front from left: Alex Cruz, Lauren Jeans and Demi Sheppard and in back from left, Preston Martin, Tyler Pohl and Keith Shivers.

Paris Junior College will celebrate 90 years and kick off Homecoming festivities with a birthday party for the public at 2:30 p.m. in the McLemore Student Center Ballroom on Thursday, Nov. 6. “Everyone is invited to join us in celebrating 90 years of academic excellence,” said PJC President Dr. Pam Anglin. “We’ll have cake and punch and we hope the community will join us.” The birthday party will be followed by the 4 p.m. Homecoming parade starting at the Hunt Center, also birthday-themed, and a pep rally at 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7 features the President’s Reception at 5:30 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom. On Saturday, Nov. 8, the annual meeting of the Alumni & Friends Association starts at 9 a.m. in the Student Center Cafeteria, followed be a friendly gathering of all alumni for coffee at 10 a.m. in Student Center Room 205. Love Civic Center is the location of the Distinguished Alumni Luncheon with doors open at 11:15 a.m. for the 11:45 a.m. event honoring Dr. Michael McFrazier and Jay Hunter Morris. Carolyn Beckett, Morris’ mother, will accept the award on his behalf as he’ll be performing out of state, and a special video will convey his sentiments. The deadline to purchase luncheon tickets is 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4. At 2:30 on Saturday more former PJC students will be inducted into the Academic Hall of Honor in the McLemore Student Center Ballroom. Honorees include Don Haley, Camellia St. John, Ray Moran and Perry Hill, who will also be inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. Later on Saturday at 4 p.m. the women’s basketball team plays Collin College and the men’s basketball team takes on Murray State College at 6 p.m. Halftime of the men’s game will see the crowing of the Homecoming King and Queen. Capping the 90th Homecoming is the Alumni Reunion Choir Concert featuring Distinguished Alumni Michael McFrazier at 7:30 p.m. in the Ray Karrer Theater. Former PJC choir members through the ages are invited to join in and attend rehearsals that Saturday morning and afternoon prior to the concert. All proceeds from the concert will go to an endowed scholarship in McFrazier’s honor.
