PJC students hold painting fundraiser to restore Trail mural

Published or Revised January 13, 2017

The Paris Junior College Art League is sponsoring an two-day event to restore a mural on the Trail de Paris and at the same time fund student field trips to DFW-area art museums. Sponsors can be individuals, families, or businesses, and they are being asked to paint sections of the mural at the Hwy. 271 underpass. The Art League is asking for donations of $2 per square foot to paint a space. The upper rows of the mural are slated for repainting from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12; the lower rows will be tackled that day from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. The columns and remaining spaces will be painted from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 13. Participants are asked to bring water-based spray or brush paint (and brushes) and can expect some climbing and painting on slightly rough surfaces. Spaces will be reserved once payment is made to the PJC Art Department. To get the reservation form or for more information, contact PJC Art Instructor Susan Moore at 903-782-0438 or email smoore@parisjc.edu.
