Paris Junior College will offer a wide selection of continuing education classes during April.
- A QuickBooks business accounting class will be held from 8 a.m. to noon each Tuesday and Friday, April 1-11. This class details all the steps needed for proper setup and includes troubleshooting tips and solutions for common problems and mistakes.
- Government Contracting 101 meets from 10 a.m. to noon on April 3. Topics covered will include how to contract with the government at the federal, state and local level.
- How to Start Your Own Business is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on April 4. This session offers all the steps and forms required to start a small business.
- Management Skills for Assistants and Support Staff will be presented from 9:30 a.m. to noon on April 9. This three-part video presentation shows how to open lines of communication at the office; how to identify and set priorities; effective negotiation skills; time management skills; decision-making and problem solving skills; and projecting a confident, assertive image.
- Recruit and Hire Good Employees will meet from 10 a.m. to noon on April 10.
Representatives from Northeast Texas Workforce Solutions, Manpower and Hiring Partners will explain what resources are offered to help you hire the best employees.
- Exceptional Customer Service will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on April 24. Topics will include looking through the customer’s eyes, dealing with challenging situations, creating winning attitudes, and building customer service stars and teams within your business.
- Teambuilding for Managers is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 30. Robin Kennedy of My HR Department, will help participants recognize the value of team efforts and how to use team efforts effectively to achieve goals.
- The Microsoft Publisher 2007 Basic class will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, Mondays and Wednesdays, April 7-16. Students will learn to create and design publications through the use of templates, frame, objects graphics and more.
- A Microsoft Word Basic 2003 class meets from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. each Thursday, April 10 through May 1. Learn to create a variety of professional looking documents from letters and memos to newsletters, resumes, flyers and more.
- A Quick Start Series, Office 2007 offers help in upgrading to Microsoft Office 2007. The session runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. each Thursday, April 10 through May 1.
- Welcome to the World of Computers is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 12. This class is designed for anyone that has very limited, if any, computer training.
- A Microsoft PowerPoint Essentials 2003 class will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., each Tuesday, April 15 through May 6. This class covers creating and modifying a presentation, animations and slide transitions, inserting graphics and slide layouts and themes.
- The Microsoft Word 2007 Basic class meets from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, April 15-24. Learn to create a variety of professional looking documents from letters and memos to newsletters, resumes, flyers and more.
- A Microsoft Excel 2007 Basic class will be offered from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., each Monday, April 28 through May 19. This class covers creating a worksheet, working with formulas and functions, formatting a worksheet, working with charts, and analyzing data using formulas.
- Surfing the Web introduces the Internet, e-mail, home pages, and how to perform basic research. The class will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, April 2-9, at PrimeTime.
- Understanding Personal Computers takes senior adults through basic computer use and incorporates the hands-on approach. Basic touch typing skills are helpful. The class meets from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays and Thursdays, April 15-22 at PrimeTime.
- Understanding Windows helps adults learn to create, save, and find files. The class will meet from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays and Thursdays, April 24 through May 1 at PrimeTime.
- A Country and Western Dancing class will learn the double shuffle, the Cotton-eyed Joe, the waltz, polka, Electric Slide, a well as basic two-step and three-step dancing. Sessions meet from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., each Thursday, April 3-17.
- A Ballroom Dancing – West Coast Swing class offers sophisticated style and easy adaptation to today’s rock music. This dance incorporates many forms of swing including the Lindy, Shag, Whip and Push. The class meets from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., each Wednesday, April 23 through May 7.
- Driver’s Education, approved by the Texas Department of Public Safety, is open to students at least 15 years of age. A birth certificate, TEA Attendance Voucher, and social security card must be provided. The class is held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday, April 7 through May 1.
- Defensive Driving, offered by Paris Junior College #067, in accordance with the standards established by the National Traffic Safety Institute of Texas Inc., license #C0297, consists of six hours of classroom instruction. It will meet from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on April 16-17.
- A Pharmacy IV Technician: Compounding Sterile Preparations class will meet from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, April 1 through May 20. Participants must have worked or be currently working in the role of a Pharmacy Technician or successfully completed a Pharmacy Technician program.
- A Medication Aide Update is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 17. Medication Aides should take this class one month before card expiration. Course content fulfills annual renewal requirements for certified medication aides according to specifications of the Texas Department of Health.
- Basic Life Support (CPR) Recertification for Health Professionals meets from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on April 8. Written examination and successful demonstration of skills is required. The American Heart Association certifies this course.
- The Basic Life Support class will be offered from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday, April 9-10. It will also be held from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Monday and Tuesday, April 21-22, and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, April 25.
- The ACLS Provider Renewal Course meets from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 22. It will be repeated in the same time frame on April 23.
- The Heartsaver First Aid with CPR and AED class is for those who have a duty to respond to a first aid or cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements. The class will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 26.
- The ACLS Provider Course meets from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 29-30. Successful demonstration of skills must be shown. The class is designed in accordance with the American Heart Association standards.
- Spanish for Requesting Personal Information and Data will meet from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., each Monday, April 7 through May 12.
- The Kids Hurt Too seminar is designed to help parents understand the needs of their children throughout the process of divorce. The seminar meets from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on April 1.
- A Coin Collecting II class will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on April 3. Learn what makes a coin valuable and how to use numismatic techniques such as grading standards, proof sets, type errors and more.
- A Works of Art class is scheduled from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., each Tuesday, April 22-29. This class offers a chronological history of American art and will be presented in the Hayden Museum through a permanent collection of graphic art, archival photography and American chairs. Students will learn how to correlate American art with American history.
- Manual Photography for Digital Cameras is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon each Tuesday, April 8-22. This class offers the option of taking images and having them evaluated.
- A Real Estate Math class meets from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, April 7-30. Mathematical logic and basic arithmetic skills including percentages, interest, time-valued money, depreciation, amortization, pro-ration, and estimation of closing statement are covered during this class.
- A Basic Lapidary Art - Cabochon class is designed to introduce the art of lapidary to the local community. The class is held from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, April 1-24. Registration deadline is one week in advance.

- An Exceptional Customer Service workshop will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 25. This free video presentation will offer participants strategies for creating exceptional customer service stars and teams within their business.
- How to Start Your Own Business will meet from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on April 25. This session offers all the steps and forms required to start a small business.
- Understanding Internet Basics will be held from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Monday and Wednesday, April 2-9. Participants will learn how to browse the internet; effective search techniques; internet e-mail; printing techniques, and have an introduction to web based communities.
- A Microsoft Excel Basic 2007 class will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, April 14-23. Students will learn to create a worksheet; work with formulas and functions; format a worksheet; work with charge; and analyze data using formulas.
- Understanding Personal Computers meets from 9 a.m. to noon each Friday, April 4-18. This class provides basic instruction in computer use for the novice using a hands-on approach. Basic touch typing skills are helpful.
- Understanding Windows will be held from 9 a.m. to noon each Friday, April 25 through May 9. Students will learn to create, save and find files.
- Demystifying Your Digital Camera is scheduled from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, April 7-14. Learn how to get the best quality images and acquire an understanding of digital imaging, including resolution, software and printers. Bring your own camera and instruction manual, if you have one.

- How to Start Your Own Business will be offered from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on April 11. This session offers all the steps and forms required to start a small business.
- A Patent, Trademark and Copyright Laws seminar will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on April 11. Participants will learn how to register copyrights, select and register a trademark, and how to evaluate creative products for patent protection.
- Raising Capital for Your Business will show what lenders are looking for when making a business loan, getting a commercial loan from your bank, U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) guaranteed loans, SBA 504 loans, and preparing a loan package. This session runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 15.
- Exceptional Customer Service will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on April 22. This free video presentation will help business owner’s approach service through their customer’s view. Other topics include dealing with challenging situations, creating winning attitudes, and building customer service stars and teams within your organization.
- Understanding Windows helps adults learn to create, save, and find files. The class will meet from 9 a.m. to noon each Friday, April 4-18. This class also explains some of the Windows accessories.
- Surfing the Web introduces the Internet, e-mail, home pages, and how to perform basic research. This class will be held from 9 a.m. to noon each Friday, April 25 through May 9.
- An Electrician, Journeyman, Wireman and Masters MCE for License Renewal is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, April 18. This course is approved by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations and meets continuing education requirements for electricians to renew their license. It is offered under provider #1073.
- An Air Conditioning MCE for License Renewal will meet from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 19. This session offers intensive training in HVAC to update knowledge and skills and the knowledge in code classifications of refrigerant systems, human comfort, refrigeration machinery room, refrigerant piping containers and valves, erection of refrigerant piping, refrigerant control valves and pressure relief valves.
- The Professional Food Manager Certification Training will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 26. This course is designed for food managers in hospital, grocery, retail, school, hospitality, industrial, correctional facility, food supplier and food distributor industries where food safety is a critical responsibility. This course prepares food managers for any of the nationally recognized food manager certification exams based on the 2001 FDA food code. A certification test is included during the session.
