PJC Information Services Academic programs of study at Paris Junior College include programs leading to Associate of Science, Associate of Arts and Associate of Applied Science degrees, as well as certification programs. PJC articulates new BAAS degreeAgreements now exist between Paris Junior College and Texas A&M University - Commerce and Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Okla., to offer students the ability to continue their technical education through a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (BAAS) degree. These agreements enable students completing their Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree to transfer to TAMU - Commerce or SOSU to complete a BAAS degree. The AAS degree is normally considered a terminal degree at community colleges, as the programs are technical in nature. However, many graduates, once in the workplace, are unable to advance to management positions without a bachelor’s degree. AAS graduates in the past would normally have to complete many additional hours of college courses in addition to their major courses to complete a bachelor’s degree. Students now will be able to apply all of their technical credits earned in the AAS degree to the BAAS degree. With proper planning at the high school level, students can apply their Tech Prep credit to the AAS degree, which in turn will transfer to the BAAS degree as a seamless transition from high school to community college to university. Each program has its own requirements, and students are urged to look at the university Web sites for more information. In each program students will also be able to take much, if not all, of the coursework online, thus saving the cost of transportation. PJC Core CurriculaThe Core Curricula for degrees and certificates offered at Paris Junior College: Learning Skills/Fast Track CoursesParis Junior College’s Learning Skills program offers instruction in reading, math and study skills, as well as tutoring in related areas, to promote student success.
