Continuing ed schedule for November released

The Paris Junior College Continuing Education Department has scheduled a variety of classes for November.
Unless otherwise noted, Paris classes are held in the Bobby R. Walters Workforce Training Center on the north side of the PJC campus.
Paris
- The Microsoft Excel Intermediate class will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., each Tuesday, Nov. 8-29. Topics will include managing the workbook, data-splitting the worksheet, pane-freezing rows and columns, adding a digital signature, inserting hyperlinks, using tables and analyzing table date conditional formatting, finding records using Excel functions, automating worksheet tasks through macros, enhancing charts, and sharing Excel files and incorporating Web information.
- Connecting with Facebook will show participants how to sign up for a Facebook account, how to edit their profile, upload videos and pictures, find friends, play games, chat and more. The class will meet from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday and Wednesday, Nov. 14 and 16.
- The Driver’s Education class is approved by the Texas Department of Public Safety and is open to students at least 15 years of age. A birth certificate, verification of enrollment (VOE) and social security card must be provided once the class begins. The class is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday, Nov. 7 through Dec. 6.
- Defensive Driving is offered by Paris Junior College #067 in accordance with the standards established by the National Traffic Safety Institute of Texas, Inc., under license #C0197, and consists of six hours of classroom instruction. The class will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 14-15. This course may be applied toward insurance discounts or, in some cases, for traffic ticket dismissal.
- Professional Truck Driver II training offers basic and advanced skills drill and safe operating practices, basic shifting and backing skills, general truck driving with hands-on skill development and instruction coordinated with the Department of Transportation. The class is to be held from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, Nov. 14-30.
- The Basic Life Support (CPR) class approved by the American Heart Association will meet from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 9-10. This course covers instruction in lifesaving skills of respiratory (choking and near drowning) and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children, and infants.
- Basic Life Support (CPR) Re-certification for Health Professionals will be offered from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 14. This is an update and review for current CPT certified cardholders. Written examination and successful demonstration of skill is required. The American Heart Association certifies this class.
- The Kids Hurt Too seminar will meet from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov. 12. This seminar is designed to help parents understand the needs of their children throughout the process of divorce.
- The Extreme Couponing workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12. This workshop teaches couponing lingo and offers tips and techniques to help cut grocery bills by 30-50 percent or even more. It will be helpful to save local newspaper inserts for at least two weeks before attending.

Greenville
Paris Junior College - Greenville Center will offer two healthcare/medical related classes during November. The classes meet at the PJC — Greenville Center.
A Medication Aide Update class is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17. Course content fulfills the annual renewal requirements for certified medication aides according to specifications of the Texas Department of Health. Topics will include review and update of Medication Aide training rules, medication administration and related responsibilities.
Med Aides should take this course one month before their certification card expires.

Sulphur Springs
Paris Junior College — Sulphur Springs Center will offer a computer spreadsheet class during November.
The Microsoft Excel Basic class will meet from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. each Monday, Nov. 7-28. Microsoft Office Excel is an electronic spreadsheet application used to perform numeric calculations, graph data, develop reports, and much more.
Topics will include creating a worksheet, working with formulas and functions, formatting a worksheet, working with charts and analyzing data using formulas.
