The dragons also finished the season with a No. 7 national ranking, the highest in school history. Their 26-4 regular season record was the best in school history, and the team went a perfect 15-0 at home. Following his teams’ success Hodge was honored with the Region XIV Coach of the Year award. Hodge came to PJC in 2005 as assistant coach from Texas A&M University - Commerce, where he completed his college basketball career and was assistant coach for two seasons. As assistant coach, Hodge helped then Head Coach Bill Foy lead the Dragons to the NJCAA Region XIV conference championship (18-4 record) while posting a 24-7 season record. Hodge is very familiar with PJC and its surroundings. He spent three years as a student/athlete at PJC, the first as a red-shirt freshman, and then two years as a guard on the Dragons basketball team that won 20 games each season and advanced to the post-season tournament. While playing for A&M - Commerce, Hodge was named All-Conference guard, was second in the nation in assists in NCAA Division II, and broke the university’s season record for assists. During his senior season, the Lions made it to the Lone Star Conference tournament. Hodge’s two-year record as an assistant under Coach Sam Walker saw the Lions post a 41-19 record. They won the Lone Star Conference title, the post-season tournament, and advanced to the Region II Sweet 16. Hodge received his bachelor’s degree from A&M - Commerce, as well as a master’s degree in health and kinesiology. Assistant Coach Duncan (D’) Hudson
