The 2007-2008 Paris Junior College Dragons golf team. Golf Coach David Johnson![]() David Johnson was named Paris Junior College's gold coach in the fall of 2005. Prior to joining PJC, Johnson had coached at Navarro College since 1998. In his three seasons coaching the Dragons golf team, PJC golfers have made three trips to the NJCAA National Tournament, continuing a long tradition of excellence on the links. A native of Abilene, Johnson has coached golf at Navarro, Cisco College and Howard Payne University. At Navarro, he filled in as assistant golf coach for two seasons during the absence of Coach Roark Montgomery. The Dragons coach started a new golf program at Howard Payne, where he coached from 1992 until 1994. Playing in the TIAA, his teams and individual golfers found success. Johnson moved to Cisco College, where his golf teams played in the same tournaments with Paris Junior College. Johnson, a former Junior College All-American football player at Cisco College, also coached football at Navarro. He was the offensive coordinator and assistant head coach. The Abilene Cooper High School graduate also earned All-Southwest Conference honors at Texas Christian University in 1982 as an offensive lineman. An experienced classroom kinesiology instructor, he teaches fitness and wellness courses at PJC along with other kinesiology classes. He also has experience in teaching online fitness and wellness courses. Johnson earned a bachelor of science degree from Howard Payne University and his master of education degree from Tarleton State University.
