Texas Success Initiative (TSI)
The Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2.0 (TSIA2) is a state-required placement test used by Texas public colleges to determine a student’s readiness for college-level coursework. Results help advisors place students in courses where they are most likely to succeed. Students who meet the minimum standards in both subject areas have satisfied Texas Success Initiative requirements.

Students enrolling after high school graduation (including former dual credit students). As a FTIC student, PJC has the resources you need to get started on the right foot. Here are some things you need to consider at the beginning of your time as a PJC student:
Must:
- Submit official transcripts from all institutions
- Meet GPA requirements
- Complete 25% of degree at PJC
Eligible high school students may earn college credit.
Students temporarily enrolled while primarily attending another institution. As a transient student, you will start the application process the same as any other PJC student:
SEVIS-approved. Must:
- Provide proof of English proficiency
- Maintain full-time enrollment
- Carry approved insurance
Students absent for one year must reapply. Students suspended must complete reinstatement requirements. If you do not know the reinstatement requirements, you may contact the Vice President of Student Services at ss@parisjc.edu.
Texas residents may request exclusion of coursework 10+ years old.
Texas law requires entering students under 22 to submit proof of a bacterial meningitis vaccine or booster from the past five years, on file at least 10 days before classes start.
Exceptions and exemptions apply. Review Bacterial Meningitis Vaccination for who's exempt, how to request an exemption, and where to get the vaccine locally — and take care of it early, since a missing record will hold up your registration.
Paris Junior College requests your Social Security number (SSN) in accordance with the Privacy Act of 1974. Your SSN is used to verify your identity, maintain your academic and financial records, process financial aid, generate required tax documents (such as the 1098-T tuition statement), and complete reporting required by state and federal agencies, including the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the U.S. Department of Education.
Providing your SSN is voluntary for admission; however, it is required in order to receive financial aid and for federal tax-reporting purposes. Your Social Security number is treated as confidential and is released only as permitted or required by law.

Getting started at Paris Junior College is easier with New Student Orientation, and you have two ways to take part.
Our online orientation is available anytime in Blackboard. This self-paced course isn't mandatory, but we highly encourage it — it provides valuable information to help you get started at PJC. Because it's self-paced, you can complete it whenever it's most convenient for you, and return to it anytime you have questions or need a refresher.
We also hold face-to-face New Student Orientation throughout the month of August.
