Published or Revised April 10, 2008

Amanda Cooper, a senior at North Lamar High School, has been awarded the Donna and Leo Moersen Registered Nursing Scholarship to attend Paris Junior College. Cooper is the daughter of Bryan and Amanda Cooper of Sumner, Texas. The Donna and Leo Moersen Registered Nursing Scholarship pays full tuition, fees and book costs, and provides nurse uniforms for the two-year nursing program at the PJC School of Nursing. "I am very proud to receive this scholarship and am looking forward to entering the nursing program," said Cooper. Cooper has been active in FFA and 4-H and has volunteered at the handicap rodeos and at Hannah's Horseshoes of Hope. "We are so grateful for the Moersen Scholarship," said PJC Director of Health Occupations Marcia Putnam. "It is an outstanding scholarship because it provides everything the students need — general academics as well as nursing courses. It is very sought after."
