Surrounded by his teammates, Paris Junior College sophomore Darius Williams, of Newark, N.J. signs to continue his playing and education career at California State University - Bakersfield on Nov. 8, 2018.

Following a mid-October visit to California State University - Bakersfield, Paris Junior College basketball sophomore Darius “Day Day” Williams signed to continue his education and playing career there. “I liked it there,” said Williams. “It’s a great place, a great community with a great coach. They’re rebuilding everything and I want to be a part of that process.” “What an amazing accomplishment for Darius,” said PJC men’s basketball coach Bobby Taylor. “He has worked extremely hard, not only on the floor, but just as hard in the classroom, to put himself in this position. I’m very proud of Darius for overcoming some of the obstacles he’s had to endure in his life and that’s what makes this moment so special. The only thing that will top this for me is when I watch him walk across that stage in May, shake Dr. Anglin’s hand and accept his degree from Paris Junior College, along with our other sophomores.” Williams came to PJC in 2016 from Barringer High School in Newark, NJ. Asked what he takes away from PJC, Williams said, “discipline; I’ll be a better man not just in basketball, but wherever I go.”
