Encore’s 19th annual spring concert nears

Published or Revised April 21, 2009

The 19 annual spring Encore show, “Millennium Madness,” will be staged Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the Ray Karrer Theater on the Paris Junior College campus. There will also be a Sunday afternoon matinee performance at 2 p.m. “Millennium Madness” is fashioned around the musical hits of the '80s and '90s. Group numbers include “Every Breath You Take,” “We Belong,” “Party Like It’s 1999,” “Funkytown” and “Let the River Run.” A medley called “The Awesome '80s” includes “Jessie’s Girl,” “Walk Like An Egyptian” and “Hey, Mickey.” This year’s performance is enhanced by help from former Encore members. Kristina House Courson is the choreographer, and Cody McDowell is the sound technician. In addition, drama instructor Alex Peevy and his staff of drama students have created some of the most unique lighting effects ever seen on the PJC stage. According to director Pat Fowzer, “This show will present a myriad of opportunities for the audience members to find themselves singing along and just having fun.” Tickets are $3 and can be purchased at the PJC music building or at Newman – Towne and Country Realty in downtown Paris. Tickets will also be available at the door. Those with a current PJC ID receive free admission. Doors open 30 minutes prior to performance time.
