New and returning Regents take oaths of office

Published or Revised May 21, 2008

Two returning members and one new member of the Paris Junior College Board of Regents took their oaths of office Monday evening. Roma Street and Frankie Norwood are returning to serve, and Daigone Garner is the new Regent. Officers were elected for the 2008-2009 year with no changes. President is Paul Gene Roden, vice president is Thomas E. Hunt III, and Rachel Braswell continues as secretary. Roden told his fellow regents: "I appreciate the confidence you have shown, and I will continue to try to serve the Board of Regents to the best of my ability. I try to ensure we say the things we need to say and debate the things we need to debate and make sure all voices are heard." PJC President Dr. Pamela Anglin reported on technology bids the college received for the new Greenville Center. The most comprehensive bid, by Visual Technologies, covered all of PJC's needs except a phone system. The regents accepted their bid of $185,799, and it was decided to re-bid for a phone system for the center. Also approved was a new lease for a hangar at the Greenville Municipal Airport for a project with L-3 Communications Integrated Systems for an airframe and power plant school. The board also gave approval for Dr. Anglin to facilitate the sale of the old Greenville Center. Resignations were accepted from Duncan Hudson, dorm resident supervisor and assistant men's basketball coach, and accountant Stacy Young. The next meeting of the board of regents was set for June 30, and a budget workshop is set for July 10.
