PJC to host presentation on genetic research

Published or Revised January 16, 2008

Interested members of the community, teachers, students and parents are invited to attend Sam Rhine's 2007-08 Genetic Update Conference to be held Feb. 11 in the Paris Junior College Ray Karrer Theater. Held from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., the conference covers emerging new concepts in molecular biology, cell cycle control and cancer-causing genes and stem cells, as well as related stem cell therapy and new stem cell technology. The conference will be of interest to those students planning a medical career, biology students and younger honors students, as well as interested members of the general community and home-schoolers. Many school administrators recognize the conference as an educational field trip day or a career opportunity day. An adjunct faculty member at Indiana University in Bloomington, Dr. Rhine conducts seminars nationwide to both nursing and student audiences. He has also held seminars in St. Petersburg, Russia; Nairobi, Kenya; London, United Kingdom; Tokyo, Japan; Prague, Czech Republic, and Vienna, Austria. The registration fee is $15 due on the morning of the conference, and while there's no pre-registration deadline, seating is limited. For further information contact (800) 727-2315. Local PJC host for the event is Jack Brown in the Biology Department. Click here to download the registration form (PDF/54K), which may be faxed to (888) 228-5921, or e-mail samrhine@aol.com.
