Eric Tramiel signs with University of North Texas

Eric Tramiel, a graduate of Fair Park High School in Shreveport, La., is capping a stellar basketball season at PJC by signing to play with the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas, as a junior. The National Junior College Athletic Association has named Tramiel, finishing his sophomore year with the Paris Junior College Dragons, to the 2008 Basketball All-American Team. He has also been named to the NJCAA All-Star Team and will play in the NJCAA All-Star game in Scottsdale, Ariz., April 20 at Scottsdale Community College. "It's a great honor for a great person and student athlete," PJC Athletic Director Jim Moffitt said of the All-American designation. "It couldn't happen to a finer person and it's a reflection on the kind of season we had because he provided great leadership. Other honors Tramiel won this year include being named NJCAA National Championship Tournament First Team; Region XIV Tournament's Most Valuable Player; to the All-Region First Team; and regular season Regional MVP. At the national tournament he was the first leading rebounder and the seventh leading scorer. Tramiel helped PJC achieve a school record of 30 victories for the 2007-08 season, leading his team to a Region XIV title and an 8th place finish at the NJCAA Men's Basketball National Championship Tournament in Hutchinson, Kan.
