PJC student wins 2019 honor society scholarship

Hard work paid off for Paris Junior College student Kareyn Hellmann recently when she received the Dr. Yolanda Romero STAR Scholarship from the Texas Region of Phi Theta Kappa, the two-year college honor society. Hellmann is a member of the Beta Zeta chapter of PTK, and is finishing a year serving as president of the chapter.

Attendees at the Paris Junior College associate degree nursing awards and pinning ceremony held Friday, August 16, 2019 were welcomed to the ceremony with the news that it has been 50 years since the first group of nursing students graduated from PJC.

Fall convocation was held Friday, August 16, 2019 as Paris Junior College welcomed faculty to campus in preparation for the fall semester beginning August 26. One of the highlights of a day of meetings and training was recognition of faculty and staff for their time at the college.

Paris Masonic Lodge assists five PJC nursing students

Paris Masonic Lodge #27 recently awarded five Paris Junior College Associate Degree Nursing students scholarships of $500 each to assist with the pursuit of their education. Delivering the scholarships were Lodge Worshipful Master Bill Lindsay, Lodge Senior Deacon Brian Ross and Past Lodge Senior Deacon Craig Alston.

PJC students receive scholarships from Luminant

Continuing a longtime educational partnership with Paris Junior College, Luminant’s Lamar Power Plant and its employees recently donated $5,000 to the college’s mechatronics program to provide scholarships for first and second-year students. Supporting education, especially in the areas of STEM – science, technology, engineering, and math – is a key component of Lamar Power Plant’s commitment to the Paris community.

Academic honors go to PJC athletes

Paris Junior College athletes earned both individual and team academic honors from the National Junior College Athletic Association for the 2018-2019 academic year. Student-athletes from around the nation contributed to a new NJCAA record as 6,656 participants earned a spot on one of the three NJCAA All-Academic teams, having achieved a 3.60 GPA or higher.

With so many great entries for the "Fifth Annual New Works Festival - Pyro Playfest: The Winds of Change," the Paris Junior College Drama Department is offering two alternating repertories. PJC Watchmaking program receives $20,000 towards equipment

Two of America’s most prominent horological institutions are combining forces - and funds - to maintain horological institutions in the United States. On April 17, 2019, the Horological Society of New York (HSNY) announced a donation match with the American Watchmakers-Clockmakers Institute (AWCI) at HSNY’s annual Gala & Charity Auction. The Paris Junior College watchmaking program will receive $20,000 of that donation.
