PJC names four to 2018 Academic Hall of Honor

One of the highlights of Paris Junior College’s Homecoming, November 9-10, will be the induction of the Academic Hall of Honor Class of 2018. Named this year are James A. “Jim” Wade, Sheila Coursey, James R. Rodgers and Judy R. Hodgkiss. They will be honored as part of the Distinguished Alumni Awards Luncheon at the Love Civic Center on Nov. 10, 2018, at 11:30 a.m.

Fall Choir Concert at PJC October 23

The Fall Choir Concert at Paris Junior College will feature the music of Mozart, Schubert, Schumann, Rachmaninov, and more. The concert will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the J. Emory Shaw Recital Hall in the Music Building on Tuesday, Oct. 23.

PJC instructor participates in TribFest

Ruth Ann Alsobrook, government instructor at Paris Junior College, recently participated in the Texas Tribune Festival in Austin. Known as TribFest, the event featured 300 speakers and thousands of attendees over three days to examine politics and policy facing Texas and the United States. Alsobrook was invited to be on two panels on innovative ways to teach Texas Government.

The men’s soccer team from Paris Junior College has made the first round of the National Junior College Athletic Association Region XIV Tournament, taking on Coastal Bend College at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at Sulphur Springs High School.

Fahrenheit 451 is the first production in the Paris Junior College Department of Drama's "Season of the Elements." The play runs from Thursday, Oct. 4 through Saturday, Oct. 6 at 7:30 p.m., and at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 7 in the Ray E. Karrer Theater.

Paris Junior College held two convocation meetings this fall, one for faculty on August 17, and one for staff on September 14, in preparation for the fall semester that started on August 27, 2018. Paris Junior College will begin participating in the William D. Ford Federal Direct Stafford Loan Program starting with the 2018 fall semester. To examine and determine loan requirements, weekly information sessions will be held now through August 16 about the application process. The fall semester starts August 27.

A beautiful evening greeted graduates, their families and friends at Noyes Stadium during the 93rd spring graduation ceremony of Paris Junior College on May 11, 2018. Out of 371 students graduating with a certificate or associate degree, more than 200 students chose to participate in the ceremony.
